UAE’s GCGRA Appoints Former Las Vegas Veteran as Chief Regulator

In a move that signals the imminent launch of a regulated market, the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) of the United Arab Emirates has today, April 22, 2026, appointed a renowned former Las Vegas gaming commissioner as its lead advisor. This strategic hiring confirms the UAE’s commitment to building a “Gold Standard” regulatory framework modeled after Nevada’s strict compliance systems. The authority also hinted that the first federal lottery license will be awarded by the end of Q2, paving the way for integrated resorts in Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai.
