In a historic move today, April 20, 2026, the Thai Cabinet has officially approved the draft bill for the development of large-scale “Entertainment Complexes” featuring legal casinos. The bill outlines a licensing framework that requires a minimum investment of $2.7 billion (100 billion Baht) per project. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s administration expects these hubs to boost tourism revenue by 30% and create tens of thousands of local jobs. Bangkok and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) have been shortlisted as the primary locations for the first two licenses.
