This October, basketball fever will sweep through Macau as a lineup of NBA legends joins the city’s first-ever NBA House fan event. Among the headline guests are Shaquille O’Neal, Stephon Marbury, Shawn Marion, Tim Hardaway Sr, Mitch Richmond, and Deron Williams.

The fan experience will take place at The Venetian Macao from October 8–12, coinciding with two preseason games: Brooklyn Nets vs Phoenix Suns on October 10 and 12. According to the NBA, fans can expect photo opportunities with the Larry O’Brien Trophy, youth training camps, live viewing parties, musical performances, and immersive NBA-themed experiences.

Nets and Suns Rosters

The Brooklyn Nets roster will feature Yongxi Cui, a 21-year-old Chinese player expected to attract strong regional interest. The team also brings Cameron Johnson (three-point shooting), Cam Thomas (scoring punch), and Nic Claxton (defensive anchor). Veterans Bojan Bogdanovic and Shake Milton add experience, while youngsters Noah Clowney and Dariq Whitehead highlight the future.

The Phoenix Suns will showcase one of the league’s most star-studded lineups, led by Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. Jusuf Nurkic strengthens the interior, supported by Grayson Allen, Josh Okogie, Mason Plumlee, Monte Morris, and rookie Ryan Dunn.

Economic and Tourism Impact

Analysts project each NBA Macau matchup could generate $9.6 million–$16 million in spending, drawing 30,000–50,000 visitors. This aligns with government goals to diversify Macau’s economy by reducing reliance on gaming, which currently contributes around 80% of tax revenue. By 2028, authorities aim for non-gaming sectors to account for 60% of GDP.

The collaboration between the NBA and local authorities is expected to reinforce Macau’s profile as a destination for sports and entertainment, following the success of recent concerts and international events.

Ticket Pricing

Ticket details are yet to be announced, but pricing is expected to mirror previous international NBA games. In Paris, tickets started at $100 with courtside seats over $2,000. In Abu Dhabi, tickets began at $150, with VIP packages exceeding $3,000. Macau is anticipated to adopt a similar tiered structure, offering everything from courtside experiences to budget options.
